FAQ’S

What is Prayer?

Prayer is simply communication with God—talking to Him and listening for His guidance. It includes praise, thanksgiving, confession, and requests (Philippians 4:6).

What should I say when I pray?

Prayer can include:

- Adoration: Praising God for who He is.

- Confession: Acknowledging our sins and seeking forgiveness.

- Thanksgiving: Expressing gratitude for His blessings.

- Supplication: Asking for His help for ourselves and others (Philippians 4:6).

Does God answer everyone’s prayers?

God hears all prayers, but our relationship with Him matters. Psalm 66:18 warns that unrepented sin can hinder prayer, while James 5:16 highlights the power of a righteous person’s prayer.

Can I pray silently, or do I have to pray out loud?

God hears both silent and spoken prayers. He knows the thoughts of our hearts (1 Samuel 1:13, Psalm 139:4).

Why do some people say "in Jesus' name" at the end of a prayer?

Jesus taught that we pray in His name because He is our mediator with the Father (John 14:13-14). Praying in His name reflects our trust in His authority.

Is it okay to pray for myself, or is that selfish?

It’s absolutely okay! Jesus prayed for Himself (John 17:1). God wants us to bring our needs to Him (Matthew 7:7-11).

How do I pray when I don’t know what to say?

The Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we struggle to find words (Romans 8:26-27). Sometimes, simple, heartfelt prayers like “Lord, help me” are enough.

Why should I pray if God already knows everything?

Prayer is not just about informing God but building a relationship with Him. It aligns our hearts with His will and strengthens our faith (Matthew 6:8, 1 Thessalonians 5:17).

How do I know God hears my prayers?

Scripture assures us that God hears the prayers of His children (1 John 5:14). When we pray with sincerity and faith, He listens and responds according to His perfect will.

Is there a "right" way to pray?

Jesus taught us the Lord's Prayer as a model (Matthew 6:9-13). While there’s no rigid formula, it’s important to pray with humility, faith, and honesty.

What if I don’t feel like my prayers are being answered?

God answers prayer in His timing and ways—sometimes “yes,” sometimes “no,” and sometimes “wait.” Trusting His wisdom and timing can help us persevere (Romans 8:28, Isaiah 55:8-9).

Can I pray about “small” or “unimportant” things?

Yes! God cares about every detail of our lives (1 Peter 5:7). No concern is too small or too big for Him.

How often should I pray?

Scripture encourages us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This means maintaining an ongoing, daily connection with God.

What if I get distracted when I pray?

Distraction is common, but we can gently refocus our thoughts and bring them back to God. Writing prayers or praying Scripture can also help. Distraction can also be viewed as a prompt to come back to God.

Do I need to pray for a certain amount of time for it to "count"?

The length of a prayer isn’t what matters. God values sincerity over length (Matthew 6:7-8). Even short, focused prayers are powerful.
